Reading aloud to children, particularly from birth to age 5 is critical for brain formation and establishing a solid foundation for future academic achievement.

The brain architecture continues to develop in the early years and stimulation is critical to that formation.  This is a universal issue as all humans need this intellectual stimulation regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic conditions.  That said, children of parents without college educations are at particular risk because research indicates that parents without college educations are much less likely to read to their children.

We are launching a viral campaign using social media to promote this critical human need for parents/guardians to read aloud to their children.  In the future we will be adding information and suggestions for how you can become involved, but in the interim you can visit our page on face book and read the suggestions below for how you can take initiative in your community.
